2017 Thibaut Award Lecture

We are pleased to announce that the recipient of this year’s Thibaut Award is Dr. Daniel T. Gilbert.
The Thibaut Award is given by our Social Psychology graduate students to an intellectual that inspires research in social psychology. The award is named after an influential social psychologist and former UNC professor, Dr. John Thibaut.
Dr. Gilbert is the Edgar Pierce Professor of Psychology at Harvard University. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorad Denver in 1981 and his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Princeton University in 1985. He is the author of the international bestseller, “Stumbling on Happiness, which has been translated into more than 30 languages. Dr. Gilbert has given three popular TED talks, including one of the 20 most-viewed talks of all time, “Why Are We Happy?”
Dr. Gilbert’s talk, entitled “Prospection 1.0” is scheduled for Friday, March 31, 3:30 pm in Howell Hall, room 205.
