Dr. Sara Algoe, an Assistant Professor of Social Psychology, is a 2015 recipient of a Character Lab Grant.

Character Lab is a non-profit on a mission to develop, disseminate, and support research-based approaches to character that enable kids to learn and flourish. Annually, Character Lab invest in research projects that test the effectiveness of character-based classroom practices.

Dr. Algoe is co-principal investigator with Dr. Laura McKee, an Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Science at the University of Georgia. Dr. Algoe and Dr. Mckee won for their project, “Picture This! Framing Purpose and Bringing Gratitude into Focus.” This project seeks to increase gratitude in 9th graders through the use of digital picture taking, sharing, and savoring. This study combines positive psychology with cognitive bias modification to foster student growth.
