Dr. Hazel Markus, a Davis-Brack Professor in the Behavioral Sciences, received the 2020 John Thibaut Award.

The lecture was delayed from March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Thibaut Award is given by our Social Psychology graduate students to an intellectual that inspires research in social psychology. The award is named after an influential social psychologist and former UNC professor, Dr. John Thibaut.

Dr. Markus presented “Notes from the Field: Experiments towards a Psychology of Culture Change” at her Thibaut Award lecture. Adrienne Bonar, a graduate student in Social Psychology, presented Dr. Markus with the 2020 Thibaut Award on March 6, 2023.
